Open Letter to ALL Labor Politicians in Australia

In the last 12 months or so my interest in Australia politics has more then doubled. Now that was not all that difficult considering previously it just about did not exist. It started with a book I have just finished reading written by Margo Kingston titled Not Happy, John! I'll write a little about it in another entry. Oh BTW, you might like to visit Margo's Web Diary for the truth and nothing but the truth. Previously her Web Diary was located here.

Anyway back to my letter to ALL Labor politicians after the 2004 election. Although there was only a single issue raised, it is equally relevant to ANY politician who thinks People Power is dead!

On Sunday 10 October 2004 I decided to write each and every Labor politician sharing with them what I considered to be the reason for the election result Labor saw and heard loud and clear.

For me there were a number of issue. Each has everything to do with this States Premier and what he has chosen to do and the types of decision he has made. But THE single issue which decided how I would vote and how hundred and thousands of othet like minded people would vote, was the ban on tail docking.

As difficult as this maybe for you to believe, we the dog owners, breeders and lovers, became single issue voters. You may know it as a *protest* vote.

To back track a little, as hard as I tried to make contact with you, and I use the term *you* loosely, you did not want to speak to me. As hard as I tried to get you to see REAL scientific evidence, you would not look. As hard as I tried to be heard, you turned a deaf her to me.

I could only do so much at that time.

I could do more later.

Much more, much later.

In fact 2004 was going to be a time for me and all other like minded dog people to make sure you heard our silent yet so deafening voices through the ballot box.

Once it became clear you simply would not listen to us, our focused changed. The passion and dogged determination took on a whole new desire and speed. I am pleased with the election result as are many other dog people around Australia. I understand that the ban on tail docking was a State by State decision but I didn't want to split hairs, I made sure Labor got the message at Federal level on Saturday 9 October 2004. Internet is a wonderful thing, it is fast and the plan for election day spread faster then you could possibly imagine.

I, and other dog owners, lovers and breeders rallied together and we let you know! People Power is not dead but rather it is fighting fit and ready to shout!

Each State Premier has a record a mile long of things they have done to upset the people in that State.

Steve Bracks lied to the Victorian people about the Frankston/Mitcham road being a FREEWAY, it was going to be and now is a TOLLWAY, to name one for Victoria.

Peter Beattie took the 1000 pieces of personal conduct legislation to a whole new level of 4000. He maybe proud of that record but rest assured the people of Queensland don't quite see it that way.

Need I go on to other Premiers.

I am certain I do not.

You will be well aware of what sorts of things which got labor off side with the Australia people.

I have got off track a little I guess, my message to you and every Labor politician is to let you know the ban on tail docking is what returned Labor the result on election day.

It may be of interest to you, that as a collective group, Labor was not the only one targeted on Saturday 9 October 2004. The Greens and the Democrats were also in our sights. Interesting don't you think considering all three parties did not expect the result they got and was the worst in their respective party history.

As I continue to read news items from Labor Party trying to figure out WHY? they got such a poor result, I ask you share this with your Labor colleges, it may assist them in understanding what they considered to be a small group of people, can do when it most effects you the Labor politicians. A voice in the ballot box.

We do not want Labor in government at any level.

Yours sincerely

smile-wailful
