Life Is A Like a Cake

I can see the look on your face now and that "What the" question just busting to come out.

But life is like a cake.

Sure it is.

Think about it.

All the experiences we have through out our lives, all the choices we make throughout our lives are nothing but ingredients which shape our very own life, just like ingredients we use to bake a cake.

Take for example a Basic Sponge Cake.

The ingredients are simple and few;

  • 1 cup Self-Raising Flour, or Plain Flour sifted with 1 teaspoon of Baking
    Power
  • ½ cup of Butter or Margarine
  • ½ cup of Castor Sugar
  • 2 Eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¼ teaspoon of Vanilla Essence

That's it.

Five ingredients for a basic, boring cake.

Now of course you may well be happy with a Basic Sponge Cake and that's OK but don't go whining you don't like the taste of it because you made the decision to make it and you put together the ingredients and you have to eat it now. But imagine if you put some cocoa in there . . .

. . . You now have a some what more appealing cake. A Chocolate Sponge Cake that tastes a whole heap nicer.

But wait, it can be a whole lot nicer still . . .

. . . How about cutting it in half, whipping some yummy fresh cream and spreading it between the two layers. How about adding a spread of home made jam as well.

Voila!

A REAL yummy cake.

Our life ingredients can be as simple or as complex and exciting as we choose which enrich and fulfill us in ways that only we can imagine yet not quite describe in words. These ingredients of our lives are made up of many different things, from people we meet, jobs we have, activities we involve ourselves in, people we help and the list goes on.

Each and every one of our Life Ingredients plays and ever so important roll in what our Life Cake tastes like, smells like and looks like.

During the gathering of our Life Ingredients we must remain on alert in case one or more ingredients go off and therefore will spoil our Life Cake. Watch them carefully to make sure that no one substitutes a REAL McCoy for a Generic ingredient.

All these things will determine our Life Cake.

Possibly the single most important ingredient in our Life Cake will be the people that we meet, work with or socialise with.

For me these people have been many through work as I held many different jobs while married. This was because my now ex-husband moved around a lot which meant his Life Cake was baking while mine was some what on hold or at least limited in it's taste, smell and look.

These people have been many through my involvement with Weimaraners since 1983. They have added a unique and appealing flavour to my Life Cake and some continue to add flavour still today. Roz Buckley is one of these people as is Richard Boots and Steve Allingham.

These people have been many through other interest, one such interest was webrings. It is through this interest that I met James S. Huggins back in 2003. James continues to be a very flavoursome ingredient in my Life Cake. He is some what of a surprise ingredient in that his flavour develops in different ways and
adds a slightly different yet complimentary taste to my Life Cake.

Throughout the gathering of my Life Ingredients I have some how managed to gain a few unpleasant and unwanted ingredients. They kind of snuck up on me while I wasn't as alert as I should have been and spoiled my Life Cake. Thankfully though my Life Cake was not beyond saving and thanks to such ingredients as
Roz, Richard, Steve and James, it is looking, smelling and tasting much much nicer.
