Who Did What To Help Or Hinder Where?
Despite an Australian nation wide tail docking restriction, the topic is still one that raises passionate discussions within the purebred dog world and indeed the docked breeds.
Who said what?
Who did what?
Who made promises to who?
What is the true cost of their actions?
Not sure if I can fully answer those question or answer them at all, but here are a few points of interest to remind us all:
- In November 2002 Mr. Roger Bridegford and Mr. Lionel Bleakley presented a draft copy of the Breeders Manual (BM) which the VCA Inc was submitting to the Victorian Government.
- The BM did not include anything about tail docking, it was completely left out.
- Mr. Lionel Bleakley was questioned by Mr. Klause Keck about this omission, to which he replied "The Minister won't like it".
- Mr. Roger Bridgeford, Mr. Lionel Bleakley and the VCA Inc have shown unequivocal disrespect, arrogance and commitment to the purebred dogs in submitting the docked breeds interim Standards for consideration. Indeed they saw the docked breed Standards as bargaining power in a NO-WIN situation (for purebred dogs) with the Victorian Government.
- Mr. Klause Keck motion put before RNSWCC resulted in the removal of these destructive interim docked breeds Breed Standards by the ANKC.
It IS vitally important for ALL purebred dog breeders and owners to unite, to see the bigger picture rather than just your own backyard or that blue ribbon you might get from a judge.
It is equally important that purebred dog breeders do not have to keep one eye on their own as well as those who fight us.
