That's How It Goes

John Howard is out, Kevin Rudd is in but I guess the icing on the cake is coming from Ministers of the Liberal Party who have been instructed to vote in favour of Labor Party changes to Industrial Reform laws when it goes before the Senate.

Now THAT IS saying something about the division within the Liberal Party on that particular subject.

I think in time Australian people will come to know exactly why John Howard was so hard line on IR laws and maintained there was no need for changes; IR laws are working, he would say.

That will 'learn' you John Winston Howard for not listening to the Australian people, to the unions, to your own party members, to anyone but yourself. That has cost you dearly; it has cost you the 2007 Federal Election, it has cost you your very own seat that you held for 33 years but you can take comfort in knowing you will be remembered for being only the 2nd PM in the history of Australian politics to loose a Federal Election AND your own seat. That has to feel great doesn't it!

To say that I am sad for John Howard would be an outright lie.

I am very pleased indeed to see him go.

I am pleased he lost his seat and I am pleased he has made history by becoming only the 2nd PM to to do so.
