It's A Circus At My Home
Smokey gave birth to 5 kittens.
Four girls and one boy.
Tomorrow, Monday 11th June 2007 these little bundles of lightening fast joy turn 8 weeks young.
This whole experience has been one hell of a learning curve for me. I breed Weimaraners and have done for a few years now. Kittens and puppies are not just a different species but they mature at different rates. I was astounded to see the boy open his eyes at day 7!
The whole litter was wide eyed by the 10th day!!!
I was soon to discover that this was not the only difference between the two species. They instinctively knew what the kitty litter tray was used for and were using it from the 4th week. And at the same time the boy began to eat solids as well as get a drink from mum.
They are all eating and certainly prefer their true to nature carnivore diet.
I think their favourite is kangaroo, but they enjoy beef, pork and chicken.
Just this evening I decided to give them each their own chicken wing; well just the tip. WOW and double WOW! They thought that was pretty good though they couldn't quite get through the whole tip, they did do a good job of making it shorter. Smokey got the middle part of the wing and made very short work of that.
I am really pleased they all like fresh meat. Since Zeta came home she has been on a carnivore diet and she looks great with no health issues and the whitest of teeth you would think she had porcelain caps. Even the vet was amazed and asked how I have managed to keep her teeth so beautiful and white. To see them would be the only way you could believe who gorgeous those teeth are.
As the kittens grew their coat colour was more and more obvious as were their marking and so mum and I gave them names.
Paige because she has a white and cream "P" on her face.
Can you see it?
She is so adorable and mums favourite. I would love to keep them all but that is not possible. Mum and I already have Mimmi and Smokey and we will keep Snowy. Three cats and one Weimaraner are enough for one house hold I think.Snowy . . . well I think you can see why. He did start off as Flash because of the grey flash on his head, then went to Snowy when a new home was found for him, but mum liked Oscar because he is so wild however Snowy does kind of suit him and so Snowy he will remain. His new home will be with mum and I because the family that was going to have him can no longer.
Koschi because she has white and cream marking that kind of make her face look oriental. Very hard to get an image of her face, she just doesn't stop long enough for that. She is real little busy bee and the first to climb to the top of the lounge net curtains. If you could have seen her. She thought she was the bees knees, so proud of herself and watched her brother and sisters as they tried to reach her. I am certain she had a really big grin on the inside, LOL.
Her name is taken after a Weimaraner I bred.
I just fell in love with that name and this little kitten really suits the name and the name suits her.Keeki because . . . well just because. Her fur is longer and she was the second to purr, her brother Snowy was the first to do that. She looks as big as her litter mates but she is so petite and tiny under all that fur. She is very agile, they all are but she has many firsts under her belt; she was the first to jump up on the dining chairs and the first to then climb onto the dining table. She was the first to climb over the barrier across the doorway to my bedroom and the list goes on.
Macey is the name my mum really loves so please meet Macey everyone. She is a little bit of a snob I think. Things seem to be on her terms only. I originally gave her the name Spot because she has a white spot at the end of her tail and a white toe on one front and one back paw but it was never going to be her name. It seemed odd to call her that when Macey suits her so well.
See the white spot on the end of Macey's tail? I am still running in my new digital camera so I hope these images are clear enough for you to see each member of the family. There are only five of them but when they wake up and decide it's play time it's like watching a circus and it's sure looks like their are 50 kitten not just 5, LOL.
