Big Noting Yourself
In case you do not know what this means, simply put it's when someone tells you how good they are or how fair they are or how noble they are . . .
. . . That sort of thing.
Recently a post came through from a list I am on which, in part said, "If anyone wishes to utilise DogzNSW as a medium to publicise their case for election,"
On the surface and to those who may not know what goes on behind closed doors, this shows the author as someone who is fair to ALL candidates, who has offered the list as a kind gesture for communication between candidates and members.
However it is far from that.
The author is also the list owner and does not allow membership to at least one candidate with certainty, possibly three in total.
That's OK.
Nothing wrong with that.
After all the list owner gets to decide how the list will grow and develop and part of that process is allowing some people to join and not allowing others. It is the people that make the list and the owner that sets the tone and direction through the people which are permitted to join.
The problem of course is that this kind and generous gesture directed to anyone who wishes to utilise the list to present their case for the election is, in reality, a selective gesture for those who are both a member of the list and a candidate.
To me it speaks volumes of what the post was REALLY about, far from what the written words says.
I see many examples of this "big noting of self" but most of all I see it in the purebred dog world.
I believe it is these types of gestures which contribute to the demise of the purebred dog world.
It is these types of gestures which continue to ram wedges, big wedges of division smack in the middle of the purebred dog community.
It is these types of gestures which do nothing to unite the purebred dog community.
It is these types of wedges which help the AR and AL groups unlock the doors and make the purebred dog world an easy target.
Mean what you say but most importantly do what you say and stop trying to score brownie points with a certain group of people.
